3 Nephi 1
Six hundred years since Lehi fled his home
Fulfilment of the prophecies foretold
A sign upon this land that He is born
A witness they are waiting to behold
But many at this time had hardened hearts
Refusing God and prophets not receive
Wickedness displayed from inward parts
In seeking to destroy all that believe
These Christians now with steadfast hope look forth
For the sign that Christ has come to dwell
Sorrow and a deep prayer, threat of death
At the setting of the sun their hearts did swell
A sign, a light. Rejoice! For He is here
The Great I AM is born to dry our tears
3 Nephi 2
People began to forget those signs
And wonders which they heard
Not astonished, dismissive of
A heavenly sign or word
Hard in their hearts and blind in their minds
Disbelieving all they’d seen
Imagining some vain thing had been done
Discounting what had been
The nation’s wickedness waxed strong
But a faithful few remained
Utter destruction, threatening all
The united were sustained
3 Nephi 3
A threat so grim, destruction nigh
With evil all around
A proclamation is sent forth
A voice of warning sounds
Gather all your horses in
Gather all your herds
Gather all your family, safe
Protection in this word
Send your prayers up onto God
Repent of all your sins
Trust in Father’s promises
Together we can win
3 Nephi 4
Rejoice, the God of Israel
Has rescued us today
Preserved us in his righteousness
His holiness, our stay
Break forth as one in song and praise
For God and his great work
Protecting us from enemies
For shining in the dark
Hosanna to the most High God
Blessed be His name
Lord God, Almighty, Holy One
His power we proclaim
Our hearts are swollen, filled with joy
With gushing out of tears
Because of God’s great goodness, for
Our humble cries He hears
3 Nephi 5
Behold, I am called Mormon
A disciple of Jesus Christ
The son of God, our Saviour
His sacrifice suffice
I have been called of him to show
Declare his word, his light
Among the scattered people who
Are searching for what’s right
According to God’s will and to
The prayers of those gone hence
I make a record, all in one
Though the history immense
An hundredth part, I cannot tell
But what I write is good
It’s true and faithful to the past
I’ve done all that I could
I’m Mormon, a son of Lehi
I have reason to bless my God
He has brought us out of Jerusalem
Made salvation’s knowledge broad
3 Nephi 6
Cities built anew, the old repaired
Highways to connect for trade unshaded
Exceeding are their riches in their peace
Distinguishing by ranks, the rich to least
Few people would withstand the persecution
With penitence to God, their resolution
But many lifted up to mock the humble
With the slightest provocation, crumble
They yielded complicit hearts to Satan
Tempting them with power, riches laden
Vanity, iniquity, and lust
Wilfully their souls toward hell are thrust
Mercifully the prophets sent, inspired
Vengefully against them they conspired
3 Nephi 7
Like a dog to his vomit and sow to the mire
Polluted now in sin
The people chose evil and turn from the way
Make home in the filth therein
Trampled their laws and murder their seers
The government overthrow
Ripening now in iniquity
To the secret band, they bow
But a merciful God to this merciless band
A prophet in power did send
Healing the sick and raising the dead
And the joyous word extend
They were angry with him because of his power
Impossible to disbelieve
So great was his faith on the Lord Jesus Christ
That angels daily received
His message: repent and be baptized
Be cleansed in the brazen sea
Prepare for the King, his coming nigh
His disciples we can be
3 Nephi 8
The temples veil is rent in twain
With Jesus crucified
Our hills and mountains are rent apart
In this land to signify
The agony of heaven and earth
It’s a maker hung in shame
For wickedness abounds, pollutes
His life, the cross’ claim
The earth did shake, the heavens split
The lightning scarred the land
The sea leapt from its boundaries
Whole cities did not stand
A darkness thick, oppressive night
No light could we perceive
Our cries of sorrow echoed wide
For loved ones lost we grieved
Trembling just as the Earth
For fear and awful shame
For in our hearts, we slew the Lamb
As them from whence he came
3 Nephi 9
The blood of the saints, it cries to me
And the blood of my prophets sent
A piercing cry that’s breaks my heart
Your weeping Saviours rent
I cannot watch this wickedness
In justice, my hand stretched
To hide these things from ‘fore my face
To cover all thats wretched
My arm of mercy reaches out
Come, and I’ll receive
End the shedding of this blood
My blood enough for thee
You shall offer for a sacrifice
A heart that’s broken, willing
A contrite spirit, like a child
In this, my will fulfilling
I am the light, I am the life
Beginning and the End
Alpha and Omega, who
Has loved you as a friend
3 Nephi 10
Silence in the darkened night
Astonished and confused
For all had heard the Saviour’s voice
And in the silence mused
His voice again is heard by all
Ye house of Israel
How often would I gather you
Under my wing to dwell?
Three days they mourned with a darkened skies
And then it fled away
The mourning fled, replaced by joy
The Son had brought the day
3 Nephi 11
His holy voice declares: the Word to enter
In a small voice, piercing to the center
To every heart and every soul that heard
Above the brightness of the sun it burned
Behold my Son, Beloved, in whom I’m pleased
In Him I’ve glorified my name, appeased
The sins of man, He drank the bitter cup
The dregs of death and hell, my will, did sup
Hear Him, then they cast their eyes and saw
Opening their ears and hearts in awe
“I am he who prophets testified
Jesus Christ, anointed one, who died”
The multitude fell to the earth to bow
“Arise, come forth and touch my wounds to know
I am the God of Israel, please learn
With finger tips and burning hearts, discern”
A shout, a cry, with one accord they sang
Hosanna! Praise thy everlasting name
Blessed be the name of the Most High
Grace, through thy Atonement, our supply
3 Nephi 12
Blessed are those who are baptized
And on my word believe
Who are buried in the water, pure
My spirit, as fire, receive
Blessed are the poor in spirit
Who come now onto me
The kingdom of heaven is given to them
They’ll be where I will be
Blessed are those that mourn midst pain
My comfort shall be theirs
Blessed are the meek in heart
Receive the earth as heirs
Blessed are those that thirst for right
They’re filled with spirits power
Blessed are the merciful
My mercy on them shower
Blessed are the pure in heart
They’ll see their God in awe
Blessed are the peacemakers
The children of their God
Blessed are those that bear the world
Reviled for my sake
For they shall have their joy and peace
Heavens reward great
3 Nephi 13
Give not as the hypocrites
Who sound a trump for fame
But do your alms with secret thanks
And in the Savior‘s name
Pray not as the hypocrites
Who pray for praise of man
But enter in the secret place
And God shall hear you then
Fast not as the hypocrites
Disfiguring their face
Annoying thy head, be washed and cleaned
Find heavenly embrace
Let thine eye be single to
The treasure found in heaven
To God, with all thy heart and mind
Devotion thy expression
3 Nephi 14
A beam is stuck within my eye
To blind me and confuse
That as I judge my brother’s life
Distorted are my views
I’ll cast the beam out of my eye
My brother, clearly see
With charity, as Jesus would
I’ll judge him mercifully
Ask, it shall be given you
Seek, and ye shall find
Your father loves to give good gifts
For he is One that’s kind
Work righteousness and goodly fruit
Will come from goodly tree
We come to know our father as
We’re striving righteously
3 Nephi 15
The world is filled with scattered tribes
The house of Israel
Other sheep, not of this flock
Upon the Earth now dwell
Each flock is known, accounted for
And to the Shepherd dear
He goes to speak with each of them
Invite them to be near
The Shepherd calls out, come to me
I am the law, the light
Look at me and ye shall live
Receive eternal life
3 Nephi 16
In our day, the word of God revealed
The covenant of Israel appeal
To the Gentile nations seeking out
For truth, protection in the fathers’ house
Blessed are the Gentiles for their belief
In Christ, the Holy Spirit gives relief
From darkness and the ignorant unknown
Revealing Christ, the Gentiles clearly shown
I rejoice for I have seen His light
The Holy Ghost has given me my sight
I cling to my relationship with God
My covenant, my true and steady rod
Break forth in joy and sing, for He has saved
Through his atoning power, the way is paved
3 Nephi 17
The love of Christ revealed, running over
He looks upon our sickness and our pain
His bowels are full of mercy and compassion
Physician of the broken and the slain
We bathed his feet with tears of adoration
We kissed them while on bended, humble knee
We’ve longed for this, for temporal salvation
And through his ample power, we are free
Beyond our words or worldly comprehension
We witness as he prays for us with tears
Amidst the pure in heart, our humble children
A light and joy dispelling all our fears
Angelic ministration, fire and light
A pentecostal witness, holy sight
3 Nephi 18
Communion now with God, divine
We take the sacrament
With broken flesh and drops of blood
His precious life was spent
As we partake the bread and wine
Our hearts are turned to him
Remembrance of our covenant
Renewed from baptism
We eat the bread and we are filled
Drink and are supplied
The Holy Ghost, our precious gift
Our comfort and our guide
3 Nephi 19
In prayer, communion, sweetly felt
With Jesus, the divine
Our father hears and blesses us
The Holy Ghost refine
Purified, enlightened, washed
Water cleanses stain
A joy, a light, a sacred rite
His Spirit will remain
The heavens open, angels come
They minister, they share
Our faith unshaken in the lamb
As we witnessed Him in prayer
3 Nephi 20
Woven in the prophecies of old
Jesus Christ, fulfilling that foretold
And in our midst His tapestry display
Beautiful before our eyes this day
The power of his covenant reaches out
To Israel, though they sold themselves in doubt
Purchased with his blood and body given
Remembered in our sacramental union
Awake, awake put on my strength, O Zion
For in thee is my power, as a lion
Adorn thyself, thy garments beautiful
Thy power and thy priesthood stand immutable
Clothed in righteousness and in His grace
We’ll find eternal life and God’s embrace
3 Nephi 21
Gather all my people from afar
Scattered to the corners of the earth
Off wandering and lost in holy dearth
And Gentiles brought to this land where you are
These promises for Gentiles and the Jew
For all who are baptized and will repent
Are numbered now with Jacob, his remnant
And come unto the holy covenant too
Together they shall build a holy place
The New Jerusalem, where all can come
Yea, the work of gathering start among
The scattered, welcomed to this sacred space
A work to gather all the lost ones home
The Lord will strengthen us, leave not alone
3 Nephi 22
Sing O barren, thou that dids’t not bear
Forget thy shame, because thou hast no heir
Bind thyself unto the Lord of hosts
Thy husband, full of love, with no reproach
Enlarge thy house, prepare and strengthen stakes
Thy seed shall be, the Lord will not forsake
A little while he hid his face from thee
But with everlasting kindness saves willingly
O thou afflicted, tempest tossed and worn
The Lord shall build thy house, in light adorn
With pleasant stones, it’s beauty to surpass
The sorrow thou endured, now come to pass
Then all of thy children, nurtured in the Lord
Great shall be their peace and thy reward
3 Nephi 23
Search the holy scriptures
Great the prophets words
Give heed to these commandments
Harken and observe
3 Nephi 24
Ye have said it is vain to serve me, your God
For what doth it profit a man?
When ye call the proud happy, and wicked set up
You’ve forgotten my omnicient plan
Ye have robbed me, your God, but ye ask, wherein?
Your tithes and your offering withhold
When you do you’re cursed with a cursing sore
Yourselves to wickedness sold
But bring ye the tithes to the storehouse
And prove me now herewith
If I will not open the heavens to you
My blessings oer’flow and uplift
3 Nephi 25
Before the great and dreadful day
When Christ returns again
The hearts of women and of men
Will turn and ponder when
Their mothers lived with patient faith
Their fathers toiled, died
Hoping and, ere, longing for
Our day now realized
Though long deceased, their hearts now turn
Unto their faithful seed
Living in this time foretold
Wait anxiously in need
The purpose of the earth fulfilled
A welding link is forged
Where families are united and
Together with the Lord
3 Nephi 26
The Lord did truly minister
Teaching them his way
Breaking bread and blessing it
Rejoicing in that day
By Jesus power, the babes did speak
Opening their mouths
Uttered things so marvellous
They can’t be written down
Disciples taught, and baptized
The Holy Ghost instilled
A unity among the Saints
And charity fulfilled
3 Nephi 27
My church is called in my own name
The Church of Jesus Christ, the same
Been built and stands up upon my gospel
The truths are taught by my apostles
My gospel I have given you:
I came onto the world to do
My father’s will, in death and loss
Be lifted up upon the cross
That I might draw all men to me
The power of the father see
I’ll raise all men, in judgement stand
My mercy and my love on hand
Whoso repents and is baptized
Are cleansed, forgiven, not chastised
For my atonement, holy shroud
Will cover, save all those endowed
3 Nephi 28
If Jesus granted me my hope
The thing I most desired
What would I ask for in his name
Selfish or inspired
Would I hope to live a faithful life
Until the age of man
Serve an holy ministry
Then quickly come to him
Would I hope to linger longer here
Upon the earth to serve
Be spared from death until he comes
Generations observe
Would I hope for greater faith to live
In this ever troubled world
Would I long to find my place with God
As the final days unfurled
3 Nephi 29
The world in secularity
The Lord, his word, deny
Confessing not his gifts and power
In scepticism hide
But as the book of Mormon comes
And shines forth in our day
A light by which we can discern
The truth and know the way
Don’t mock or spurn the ancient Jew
The Lord remembers still
For all his words and covenants
Will surely be fulfilled
