Helaman 1

Intrigue and a thirsting after power

Turned, against the people’s voices, sour

Flattering away unto rebellion

Stamped out, and the peoples voices win

But smoldering with anger and contempt

Another wicked plan they now attempt

Sending forth a man disguised as good

Stabbing, sabotaging all they could

He went to those that sent him, yes, this faker

And swearing by their everlasting maker

That they would tell no man about this deed

In secret, shroud the truth and lies to seed

Thus begins the cancer of this nation

A wicked and a secret operation

Mingling themselves among the people

Their tentacles reach out, infect with evil

Helaman 2

Gadianton in his craft

An expert in his ways

Speaking many cunning words

Shrouds evil in a haze

Leading now this wicked band

With secret oath and lie

Murder, plunder, gaining power

The focus of their eye

But God protects his chosen ones

A wicked plan made known

A murder thwarted by his power

His promises are shown

Helaman 3

The Lord has mercy to all who will

In sincerity of heart

Call upon his holy name

Believe the healing art

Heavens gate is open to

All, who will believe

On the name of Jesus Christ

The son of God receive

Lay hold up upon the word of God

Powerful and quick

Which shall divide the cunning snares

The devil’s wicked trick

And lead the man of Christ across

A gulf of misery

On a strait and narrow course

Each step enough to see

And land their souls, immortal souls

On God’s right hand in heaven

Sit down with holy Israel

The chosen ones, the leaven

We’re chosen in humility

When we reject our pride

We’re chosen when we fast and pray

Our trust in Christ reside

Helaman 4

Forget the Lord and lose his strength

Be left unto yourself

Lose your land to enemies

Lose your precious wealth

Because of pride, with hearts on gold

You oppress the poor

Withholding food from hungry mouths

Shut homeless from your door

Make a mock of sacred things

Smite the humble cheek

Deny a living prophets word

Driving out the meek

And that’s not all, for in your heart

A murderous intent

Lying now to cover sin

And sewing discontent

Because of your great wickedness

And boasting in your strength

You're left alone to prosper not

The pricks to kick against

But His arm is stretched out still

Repentance is the plea

Relentlessly he seeks for you

Relentless he will be

Helaman 5

And now my son’s remember, hear my word

Build upon the Rock, Redeemer, Lord

Who is Christ, the Son of God, and sure

Establish your foundation here, secure

That when the devil sends his mighty wind

Ye, when his piercing shafts and hail begin

A storm to beat upon you, drag you down

Toward a gulf of misery to drown

The winds in fruitless fury, raging, blow

It has no power to drag you down to wo

You’re built upon a rock, a sure foundation

Connecting you to Christ midst your temptation

Given from the Father power to save

From your sins and death, the path is laid

Helaman 6

When evil enters in, does he sit down?

In your home and in your heart allow

For fear of retribution or of pain

His wicked words and lies, echoes of Cain 

He offers you his power and his fame

He offers you a glory for your name

He offers false security from harm

He offers empty vanity, and charm

He’s full of death, deceit, and enmity 

He’s built on lies, you’ll never truly see

So when evil enters in, does he stay?

No, you throw him out and keep away

In the name of Christ proclaim the light

In righteousness and truth, you’ll win the fight

Helaman 7

I groan within my heart for you

Iniquitous and lost

I sorrow that you’ve given way

Your sinful choices cost

How could you forget your God?

In the very day

That He has delivered you

In shame, you turn away

Is it for gain, or praise of man?

For gold and silver‘s shine?

Such things build only vanity

An empty, hollow shrine

Wo to you unless you turn

Repent in Jesus name

And love your God and love mankind

Divinity reclaim

Helaman 8

Do you really want a sign for proof

To convince you of your God?

Do you really want his hand stretched out

With your wickedness abroad?

Are you hoping that this miracle

Will change your heart and mind?

Are you hoping with this evidence

Toward God, you’ll be inclined?

Will you listen to a prophet’s voice?

Will you heed the Holy Ghost?

Will you repent to sinful ways?

Of His offering, make the most?

Do you really want to sign to see

With your unbelieving eyes?

Are you hoping for just knowledge, or

Are you willing to be wise?

Helaman 9

Haiku

Prophets words are shown

Wickedness is brought to light

Can you see the Son?

Helaman 10

The word of the Lord, to Nephi, came in power

Thou art blessed for thy faithfulness this hour

With unwearyingness, thou hast declared my word

Forgetting self and serving undeterred

Because of this, I’ll bless thee now, forever

With might in word and strength in thy endeavors

According to thy word, all things be done

I know thy heart, and we are ever one

Thou art Nephi, I am your God, your friend

In the presence of my angels, I extend

Power over wind and rain and sky

What you seal here on earth is sealed on high

Go forth again, declare unto this people

A warning to repent or face the evil

Helaman 11

Destruction first by bloody war

Then death by famines sting

Nothing short of perishing

Would in repentance bring

A hardened people back to God

A forced humility

But God is merciful to all

Who in repentance plea

Will we listen to a prophets voice?

Find peace and righteousness

Or turn again to wicked ways

And live your lives for less

Helaman 12

With false, unsteady hearts that beat

We forget the Lord

Trample him beneath our feet

Seeking vain reward

We’re slow to walk in wisdom’s path

Reject him as our guide

We wander lost in foreign lands

And follow after pride

We’re less than dust, for even it

Will follow God’s command

In heav'n and earth He can do all things

By the power of his hand

Though wicked and rebellious

Our beating hearts can turn

Forsake, repent, be lifted up

By Jesus Christ we earn

Helaman 13

Samuel, upon a wall

The word of God declares

To a hardened Nephite group

Seeking after theirs

Glad tidings from the angels lips

Ye will not receive

The spirit has withdrawn from you

For you will not believe

Your hearts are set on riches and

You’re lifted up in pride

Cursed shall be your treasure, for

From you, the Lord will hide

Ye reject the prophets word

Make mock and stone and slay

Set for yourselves a foolish guide

Who blindly leads away

O, that you would hear my words

Repent in light of day

Before a dark destruction comes

A night where you must pay

Helaman 14

Unto you a sign, in five years more

Comes the son of God to stables door

Shall be a light in heaven, surely great

A day, a night, a day, no darkness break

At a closing of the day, no night will come

The brightness, just as noon day, but no sun

A witness that the savior’s birth is nine

And in the sky, a new star shall arise

Another sign, his death, and awful sight

The sun shall darken, refused to give his light

The moon, the stars, be hidden in the veil

Oppressive cloak of blackness to assail

For three days, this will happen, no relief

That there shall be no cause for unbelief

Helaman 15

You hated us for we hated you

Traditions handed down

We traded evil deeds for good

In Jesus, peace we found

Walking circumspectly now

In our duties path

Keeping God’s commandments, firm

And doing all he asks

We gave away our sins to know

Our God, and of His love

We’re steadfast in our covenants 

And in the hope thereof

Helaman 16

With arms outstretched, proclaiming truth

He stood upon the wall

Delivering prophetic words

A message meant for all 

Some believed and were baptized

But many others burned

With anger in their heart for him

With stone and arrow spurned 

No stone from sling could hit its mark

No arrow pierced his side

Like Moses at the Red Seas edge

A way was opened wide

They drove away the prophet and

Departed from the way

In foolishness and reasoning

The evil one obey
