Jacob 1 

Most precious are the words within this book 

So when our children read they seeing, look 

Recorded is our preaching which is sacred 

Revelations great, as prophets stated

We know of Christ and of His kingdom here

In diligence we labour, God we fear 

Persuade all men to come unto the Son 

Partake of all His goodness, everyone

As we partake we enter in His rest

Obedience leads to a nation blessed

Jacob 2

Anxiety for the welfare of your souls

And knowing God's command and of my role

It grieveth me, with boldness I must speak

With stinging tears your families' faces streaked

Many of you have sought for wealth and gold 

Obtaining these, for pride, your souls are sold 

You lift yourself above your brothers need 

Forget to help the widow, hungry feed

Before ye seek for riches, seek for God 

See blessings pour from heaven, be truly awed  

But seek with the intent to cloth the naked 

Liberate the captive, rouse the fainted

You understand the scriptures not, excuses 

For your wandering eyes and hearts abuses 

One wife alone and chastity a must 

Cross yourselves and bridle all your lust

I’ve heard the mourning of my daughters hearts

Their husbands wickedness like piercing darts

Turn your heart to God and to your wives

Let virtue garnish thoughts, rebuild your lives

Jacob 3

I speak to you the pure in heart 

Pray to God with faith

Look to Him with your mind firm 

Pay heed to what He saith

As advocate, He’ll plead your cause 

Console you in your need 

Please feast upon His ample love 

For you, He'll ever plead

But wo to you, who'll not repent 

Your filthiness remains 

He cannot cleanse what you'll not allow 

Awake and loose your chains

Husbands, love your precious wives

Wives, love in return 

Together, love your children, and

 For love in your home yearn

Jacob 4

For this intent, we write upon the plates

That you may know that for the Christ, we wait

We know of him and hoped upon his glory

And sought for council from the prophets holy

We search their words and Christ to us revealed

Obtain a hope in Him, our faith is sealed

He shows our weakness that we may see His grace

That through His power, our challenges embrace 

The works of God are marvelous and great 

And by His word did earth and man create

Seek not to counsel Him, seek from His hand 

In wisdom and in justice does He stand

The spirit speaketh truth and lieth not 

Be reconciled to Christ, your soul He’s bought

Jacob 6

He’ll set His hand again the second time 

When His servants gather fruit from vine 

Recover all His people in that day 

How merciful our God, His hand not stay 

To my beloved brethren I would beseech 

In soberness, repent, toward God reach 

Cleave to Him as He cleaveth unto you 

And while his arms in mercy reach, pursue 

Harden not your heart but seek the light 

Hear His voice before the dark of night 

Be nourished by the work of God that's good 

Bear tame fruit, there evil is withstood 

O, be wise, what can I say more

Repent and enter in the narrow door 

Jacob 7

Sherem comes among them, starts to teach 

Declares there’ll be no Christ, persuasive speech 

He laboured diligently to lead away 

The hearts of all the people try to sway 

Sophisticated words and flattery 

Much power of speech for gospel battery 

He sought out Jacob to shake him in his faith 

But Jacob knows the Christ, he does not shaketh 

Sharem: “No man knows of things to come”

Denied the prophets words, their power shun 

“Show me a sign”, his faithless heart desired 

And by God’s word his mortal life expired 

Jacob mourned his days, a lonesome dream 

But in his grief and sadness, Christ redeemed
